Frequently asked questions
Everything about privacy, formats, quality and limits.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing runs locally in your browser using the Canvas API. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and every tool keeps working.
Is Rupaa free? What's the catch?
The tools are free without limits, watermarks or signup. Local processing means serving you costs us almost nothing, so there's no catch to fund.
Which formats can I open?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP and SVG in every browser. HEIC and AVIF open in browsers that decode them natively — Safari and recent Chrome.
Which formats can I save to?
JPG, PNG and WEBP everywhere; AVIF where the browser supports encoding it (we fall back to WEBP and tell you if not).
How many images can I process at once?
There's no artificial limit. Practical limits come from your device's memory — hundreds of photos at a time is routine on a modern laptop.
Does processing remove EXIF and GPS data?
Yes. Re-encoding strips all metadata including GPS location — you can verify with the info button on any file card, before and after.
Will compression ruin my photo quality?
At quality 75–85 the difference is rarely visible. Use the before/after slider on every tool to judge with your own eyes before downloading.
Can I hit an exact file size like 200 KB?
Yes — the Compress tool's target-size field tunes quality automatically until the output fits your number.
Why is HEIC not opening on my browser?
HEIC decoding depends on the browser. Safari and recent Chrome support it; if yours doesn't, convert the file on a supporting browser or export from your phone as JPG.
Do I need an account?
No. Accounts exist only for optional Pro conveniences like saved presets — the tools never require one.
